BizLearn.Net - Set up and facilitation of a (virtual) learning network for competence development of small and micro entrepreneurs
End date: Oct 1, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

More than 95% of all companies within the European Union are small and medium-sized entreprises. And more than 80% of those SMEs are even microentreprises, i.e. companies with a workforce of less than 10 employees. Contrary to this, microentreprises count the major amount of jobs throughout Europe being the sustainable driving force in any economy. However, due to their limited financial and technical resources microentrepreneurs and their staff are mostly excluded from lifelong learning so far. One major reason for this is the non-availability of learning content that is designed to help microentrepreneurs with their specific issues or learning needs.BizLearn.Net seeked to implement a new and innovative system to increase the participation of small and micro-enterprises in lifelong learning opportunities that lead to a lasting improvement of the European educational landscape and help to introduce a new learning culture. For this reason the partnership in this project established a (learning) network of experts which developed a system for content generation through the involvement of micro-entrepreneurs as both trainers and learners. Moreover, the partnership provided the concept for a (virtual) learning platform that offered practical know-how and support to the competence development within these companies. This platform used primarily the expertise, knowledge and experiences of the entrepreneur by guiding him to produce learning content himself and thus to enlarge the learning opportunities within the network. To achieve this, the partnership elaborated an external coaching and guidance system for educational organizations enabling them to lead and support (learning) networks of small and micro-enterprises.
