BIO NET

Putting in place a network of eco-social farms was intended to reinforce cross-border cooperation between Slovenia and Hungary in the fields of organic farming and quality food product processing. Moreover, it was meant to provide conditions for regional training and an employment centre to deal with education and training and employment of persons with low employability regarding the above activities. Within this project, expert meetings were organised on the subject of organic farming and quality food products. These were followed by workshops intended for experts who deal with employment of vulnerable social groups; informative workshops were given on animation of vulnerable social groups; two professional visits were organised on both sides of the border. Achievements: Within the Slovenian and Hungarian border region, a network of eco-social farms was established with a view to linking organic farms and producers of organic and traditional food products. The specificity of this network is not only the production and supply of organic food products with higher added value, but also employment and social inclusion of persons belonging to vulnerable social groups. This network includes different farms and processing units. As a result they issued a bilingual publication containing information on organic farming in the region and a Hungarian-Slovenian glossary of organic farming.
