Bilingüismo en un entorno cultural europeo por medio de metodología CLIL
Start date: Jun 1, 2015, End date: May 31, 2017 PROJECT  FINISHED

IES Andalán has an European tradition that we want to expand. It is also one of the 10 schools that have signed with the Government of Aragón a commitment "ad futurum" to become a bilingual school in English in the next five years.Being a "bilingual school" means teaching some subjects in English and therefore the need to improve the linguistic and methodological skills of non- linguistic subjects teachers In this framework, we need to acquire and develop new skills in school organization, educational guidance, new tools for teaching foreign language, as well as increase language proficiency of our teachers, especially four teachers who have signed a personal commitment to obtain the B2 level of English. Several activities are proposed in order to achieve these objectives: - The management staff will attend structured courses with a view both to expand the European dimension in our teaching environment and to share our experience with the whole group of teachers. - Teachers with management responsibilities will attend structured courses with both conferences and exchange meetings in order to share good practices, as well as observing the work at chosen schools in Finland and Iceland. -The four teachers who have signed a personal commitment to obtain the B2 level of English and to teach their subjects in English will take language and CLIL method courses in Ireland and England for two weeks. - Other teachers willing to increase their English level in order to participate in the bilingual program in our school will also attend English and CLIL method courses in Ireland and England. We expect a short term impact, as we intend to broaden the European idiosyncrasy of IES Andalán by expanding our networking team and enabling new exchanges with Europe, either in person or through eTwinning. In the medium term, IES Andalán is committed with the Government of Aragon and with our school environment to become a bilingual school, so this action is imperative to fulfill the needs of future generations of students who will come from Primary schools of the surrouding area which are already settling a bilingual aducational program. In the long term, the project contributes to increasing the linguistic competence of the whole education community since the participating teachers will be able to better communicate their subject in English and that will therefore enhance the quality standards of the lessons. So, the students will be able to prove better skills in Englisn and a larger knowledge of european reality and values, and this way they will have an easier access to higher education in the european context, and thus, a better possibility of employement.
