Big Picture Learning: innovations for students with constraints

With the exeption of The Netherlands, the Big Picture Learning (BPL) concept is relatively new for the project partners in Italy, Bulgaria, Romania and Turkey. They believe that the creation of BPL networks in their countries will greatly benefit the educational institutions, business and career guidance institutes, who can work together to implement the idea of the BPL programme. There is great need for programmes which aim is helping students who are drop outs or school leavers and who can work towards better performance and follow up education. If used in the right way, the programme can not only provide further qualifications to teachers and trainers, but also it can provide stability, job positions and new opportunities for students with constraints. The innovative BPL method is developed in the USA and adopted in The Netherlands. In each participating country a (VET) development organisation is key. BPL will be developed towards their specific needs, they will give reference and will provide trainers to be trained. Aims and objectives• students with constraints will obtain key competences for their social inclusion in society by way of the innovative BPL philosophy and the ‘one kid at the time’ educational design;• obtain key competences for social inclusion in society through education of trainers who can raise awareness and handles for concrete actions among decision makers and school managers in a Management Development Programme and among (VET) teachers in a Teach-the-Teacher Programme. • In each country a Community of Practice (CoP) will be set up for dissemination and exploitation and for further networking towards a BPL European Network.
