The BHH Sozialkontor gGmbH is a non-profit and non-confessional orientated organization for the care for persons with disabilities. It offers support to adults with or without handicaps. The objective of the BHH is to ease an existing handicap or its' consequences and to enable the disabled people to live and participate actively in our society. They participate in projects with reference to Europe for ex. during the "Europa Woche" ("Europe-Week") or during (youth) information events. The objectives of evs are: raising the awareness for the work with disabled people, widening of social and professional skills, empowerment of one's own initiative and promotion of living and working in an intercultural context.Impacts / benefits: The issue "Europe" and intercultural living together become more evident for the disabled people and the volunteers. The volunteers improve their personal, professional and linguistical competences. Many people in Hamburg find out more about Europe and evs: pupils, students, the disabled people and their families in our residential homes and our members of staff. We'd like to host 6 young people who are seeking for experiences with disabled people for the duration of 12 months each.4 young women from Russia, Finland, Austria and Turkey and 2 young men from Italy and Ukraine.
