BEZPIECZNE PRZESTRZENIE-ELEMENTY MAŁEJ ARCHITEKTURY
Start date: Jun 1, 2015, End date: May 31, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

The project assumed the completion of vocational practices for 48 students ( three groups of 16 participants each) studying in the classes specialising in civil engineering and landscape architecture run by the Conglomerate of Vocational Schools in Elbląg. Two teachers, including a German language teacher, provided care for the participants. The project met the needs for enhanced theoretical and practical education by providing the contents which were impossible to carry out in the school’s workshops due to the scarcity of technical equipment. The centre based in Frankfurt on the Oder allowed the participants to acquire and , subsequently, implement the theoretical knowledge and practical skills intended for their personal development and ameliorated participation within Polish and European labour markets. The necessity of participation in the internship was brought about by the need to increase the vocational competences by the future middle management as far as the small architecture elements were concerned. They are highly required due to dynamic development of technologies, material engineering, civil engineering market as well as the need to acquire the qualifications relevant for maintaining strict technological regimes. The project assumed to educate the students in the execution of planking, reinforcement, concrete mixes indispensable for erection of small architecture constructions and to make them participate actively in the process of establishing safe sustainable space. Acquired theoretical and practical issues shall enhance the participants’ knowledge regarding civil engineering and small architecture. The students got acquainted with new cultural environment as well as with the workshop potential purposefully created to meet the needs for the education of highly qualified technical middle management cadre. Owing to the practices in Frankfurt, our young students came into contact with their colleagues of other nationalities, which shall make them open for international cooperation in the years to come. The project was intended to make the students aware of the various types of small architecture elements and their execution, staring from the planking through reinforcement until concrete mixes. . Internship participation was a great opportunity to master German language in everyday situations, to pick up professional jargon and to get to know German culture and habits as well as the local attractions of Brandenburg. As the sending institution we provided wide dissemination of the project ideas through our website, through the website of the City Municipalities or by publications in the local and regional media. The aforementioned vocational practices were held in the Centre for Vocational Education Promotion intended for Civil Engineering Industry Union for Berlin and Brandenburg based in Frankfurt on the Oder. The implementation of the internship remained hassle-free and in line with the previously made arrangements. A short evaluating survey carried out towards the end of the internship revealed that all partners and beneficiaries were satisfied with participation. On top of that their competences enhanced and, therefore, all objectives of the project have been fully completed. The participants developed better self-confidence, they got acquainted with the work methods within multicultural environment and discovered new possibilities for their own vocational development. Predominantly however, the participants enhanced their vocational skills by acquiring unique elements related to the profession learnt as well as had the chance to overcome the barrier of communicating in a foreign language at a workplace.
