BeVoice
Start date: Apr 1, 2015, End date: Dec 31, 2015 PROJECT  FINISHED

BeVoice is a bilateral youth movement, in which German and Dutch young participants between ages 15 and 17, develop, rehearse and perform their own musical theatre piece, based on a science theme. Is it possible to dance sience? BeVoice shows that this is possible, indeed. And it’s even fun! BeVoice projects each have a special theme, inspired by the domain of exact sciences. In previous projects from 2011 through 2014, the BeVoic team and the participants have chosen to develop theatre projects for Maths, Physics, Biology and Chemistry. In 2015, the focus will be on Informatics. Young participants joining BeVoice will not only be captured by dance and music; BeVoice will also spark interest in exact sciences through creative and informal learning experiences. BeVoice has been made possible by a German-Dutch cooperative organisation, its partners and sponsors, and of course its many participants. In 2014, the project will take place in the Berlin borough Neukölln, known to be a trouble hotspot. BeVoice offers its participants personal development through intercultural encounter; they learn to develop ideas, work together in teams, and take responsibility. Furthermore, the participants will develop a long-term fascination for dance, theater and music. They will develop an interest for intercultural exchange, and an attitude of openness towards people from other countries. Towards the end of the project week, parents and teachers have often been rendered speechless at how well the workshop leaders and mentors have succeeded in enthusing the young participants and to change their personalities for the better. From looking at participants of earlier BeVoice projects, one could see the lasting effect which the project week aims to create.
