BEtter HEALTH care in the Bulgarian – Greek cross border area (BE HEALTH)

Since 2007, when Bulgaria entered EU as full member, the number of people travelling from south Bulgaria and north Greece has been increased together with the exchange of goods and services. In order to provide better health care services, a network among hospitals and local authorities at all levels has to be established. BEHEALTH project supports this bottom up approach by identifying population needs, establishing cooperation between regional and national authorities, creating a permanent, open for collaboration and joint development system in the health care area and implementing at the same time the very important EU Directive 7056 for cross-border health care. Expected Results: The expected results of the project are: 1. Optimization of health sector decisions taken. 2. Improved level of health services provision. 3. Establishment of safe working conditions in health sector units at both countries. 4. Entrance in health tourism market. 5. Creation of a safe, high standards network of health care units to support tourists, visitors and entrepreneurs. 6. Increased exchange of knowledge and best practices among healthcare personnel between the two countries. 7. Increased sensitivity and awareness of population and social groups of special needs in health related issues in the cross border area. 8. Shed light on health issues that are at the forefront of public dialogue through three major conferences (opening, midterm and closing) and other smaller events. 9. Implement the EU Directive 7056/11 for cross-border health care from 28/02/2011. 10. Optimization of focused investments and activities on health sector in both countries.
