“Better citizens, better entrepreneurs” is an international training course which has gathered members and NGO representatives coming from 7 youth organizations, representing 7 different program countries - Romania, Cyprus, Latvia, Turkey, Italy, Spain and Croatia. The general topics which the project has addressed are European citizenship, youth entrepreneurship and employability. The main aim of this training course was to promote and foster European Citizenship, youth employability, “good” entrepreneurship and active participation in society through building up competences for creating sustainable social initiatives. In other terms, the project has equipped the participants with essential competences in the field of project management in order to enable them to initiate quality youth projects and in this way foster the employability and entrepreneurial spirit through actions to be undertaken in their local communities. Moreover, principles about the conduction of a business activity and hints about sustainable and innovative entrepreneurial ideas have been treated during the project. Through the supporting learning process, the aim of this training course has been to enhance the personal and professional development of the participants, so that they act as multipliers of the gained knowledge within their organizations and among the youth they work with on a daily basis. The working process has been carried out through non formal education methods and learning by doing methodologies. The learners have been invited to work intensively and to improve their skills related to the diverse topics tackled and also their attitudes towards the EU issues and in general. Active involvement and teamwork, as well as theoretical inputs from the trainers have been essential elements of the training program. The participants have been encouraged to apply further the acquired competences by organizing follow up activities within their respective organizations and among the local youth. Special attention has been paid also in making the learning points of the training course relevant, sustainable and transferable, by giving a large space for reflection, by providing guidance and coaching for future action plans and career development. This training course brought together a group of 21 youth workers, leaders, trainers and civil society activists and gave them the opportunity to learn, share and review various means and methodologies of youth work in the above-mentioned fields. The project has also increased their commitment and awareness about these issues. The training course encouraged participants to disseminate the project results through their actions, but also within their working environment and local communities. Furthermore, we made an effort in enhancing intercultural understanding and cooperation in the field of international youth work by providing opportunities to build strong and sustainable future partnerships, initiatives and projects.
