Start date: Feb 1, 2015, End date: Feb 1, 2017 PROJECT  FINISHED

On its way to a European center of vocational education the Staatliches Berufliches Schulzentrum (State Vocational School Center Bamberg) has already gained motivating experiences with students and teachers. The Staatliches Berufliches Schulzentrum cooperated successfully in the field of two specific professional categories with the professionally equipped Vocational Education Center of Omnia in the Leonardo da Vinci mobility "Media Design and IT in Finland". Both vocational education centers wish to intensify their cooperation in the future. The Schulzentrum Bamberg and the Vocational Education Center of Omnia share a wide range of different technical branches in which they offer professional education. The Schulzentrum Bamberg intends to develop to be a regionally important and internationally cross-linked institution of vocational education. Students as well as teachers eagerly work on optimizing their chances the European job market offers them in the versatile levels of education according to the European Qualifications Framework (EQF). The Schulzentrum Bamberg is currently in the process of being certified as a vocational school based on quality management. In this context the school is anxious to support its students in developing professional knowledge as well as international communication skills and social engagement. Finally these highly skilled employees will be a profit for the international and national job market. Thus the teachers are highly motivated to take actively part in European vocational teacher trainings. The regular cooperation with Omnia helps us to further qualify our teachers to apply new methods of effectively imparting professional and social abilities. This conception supported by both vocational schools covers essential aspects of the live long learning process and helps to create the desired qualifications of skilled modern employees. The Schulzentrum Bamberg and the center of education Omnia with its internal partner InnoOmnia, the professional center for further education of start-up entrepreneur and teaching staff, are able to further increase the regional and European quality of vocational education. During the 4 flows, lasting 3 weeks, 16 students and 8 teachers have the opportunity to reflect and further develop their professional, intercultural and international language competences. The students intensify their professional knowledge during their practical training. Together with the Finnish students they gather personal experience in European mobility. The teaching staff will reflect their methods and didactics by practicing team-teaching with professional staff of Omnia. They will also extend their abilities to efficiently and sustainably impart knowledge by using new methods and media. Therefore the teaching staff is actively taking part in further education seminars of InnoOmnia. During their one week stay the German teachers, together with the staff of Omnia, coach and take care of the students. Last but not least all participants will benefit enormously from this international activity concerning their individual personality development. The increasing competence of the participants will also help to develop the profile of both vocational schools as innovative educational institutions.
