BFM 2017 will primarily aim at consolidating the results reached in keeping with the Festival’s historical purposes: BFM’s main aim is to stimulate, enhance and promote the knowledge of films that, despite established artistic and cultural qualities, have some difficulties in finding distribution and circulation in Italy. BFM also means to promote the cultural and geographic diversity of European audiovisual works and the diffusion of films of particular interest presented within the Festival’s programme. BFM’s mission includes both supporting independent, high-quality cinema, one that confronts reality in creative, linguistically innovative ways, and rediscovering film heritage, by means of recovering and promoting classic cinema. BFM will maintain its focus on the promotion and circulation of particularly interesting films, screened during the Festival, that can be distributed in theatres, on TV, in the Web, or even in cultural and film festivals networks. BFM will also keep its focus on film audience: our cultural proposals, in terms of the Festival’s programme and related events, will be rich and diversified, and communication along with film literacy activities will be boosted. We expect our constant efforts in this direction to keep on widening numerically our public and to refine their competence in film as well as audiovisual culture in general. Specific attention will be devoted to junior attendees: our goal is to keep renewing our public from generation to generation, and to help young people develop cultural sensibility in the film and audiovisual field. In order to refresh our ambitions, BFM will devote even greater efforts to the relationship with international institutions, distributors and producers, so as to reinforce the promotion of the 35th edition films, as well as the Festival’s own importance on a wider geographic scale.
