Our project named 'Count Me In: Inclusive Education from Theory to Practice', aims to create enhanced education platforms to enable special education students to get in touch with peers and to achieve educational aims at utmost level. Therefore, the project as the first international education project of our school requires six teachers to attend firstly a training course in Italy in which theories, methods and techniques will be taught, and then to attend a school visit/observation activity in Finland. Planned activities will solve our teachers' problems that they come across during practice as well as bringing them new methods and techniques for the inclusive education of special needs students. As our school doesn't have any project experience,our experienced and volunteer ELT teacher is the project coordinator and our school counselor will be the master. We plan to start this project towards socializing the special needs students first with an eTwinning project, then to support it with the necessary trainings and observations and to continue with strategic school partnership projects. Being a secondary education organization with 1 school principal, 2 assistant principals, 28 teachers, 5 employees and 545 students in Seyrantepe (Kağıthane, İstanbul) whose population consists of different ethnic groups especially of people coming from East of Turkey with low socio-economic status, our major problem is our low-educated parents, therefore our students being unattended after school. We want to reach, satisfy and educate students with learning disability, attention deficit as of hyperactivity disorder, mental disorder, visual, hearing and physical disorder, speech difficulty as well as those who in general needs individual education, using methods and techniques tailored for them and activities that interests them. At the end of the project, with our teachers who will get the necessary training and use different methods for each student, we expect our inclusive education students educated successfully and to be able to form better dialogs with their environment. In the process of dissemination, some district conferences will be organized by our trained teachers for their colleagues. All the necessary sharing will be done using the printed and visual media with the support of Kağıthane National Education Directorate, Kağıthane Guidance and Research Center and Private İlk Evre Rehabilitation Center. For the continuity of the project, we will open supportive education rooms in our school, hence a new platform will born for the implementation of the training outcomes.
