Being Young in Europe - BYE is a project of Europen Voluntary Service focused on the topic of the development of a pre-urban area through the empowerment of the activities of non-formal education and youth work: two italian volunteers, among them a youth with physical disability, to support the local organization Proyecto Kieu; they will use and develop their personal and social competences and their creativity to increase the levels of youth participation and the feeling of being European of the young people who live in the Spanish pre-urban area of lNumacia De La Sagra.The project originates from the observation of a low active social participation of the Italian and Spanish youth and of the very low rate of Italian youth who participate to volunteering activities abroad (1%), from the will the give a positive reply to the expressions of interest for EVS from young people and young people with disability and from the need of the Spanish hosting organization to receive support and innovation in the management of the activities of non formal learning and youth work in its local contest. So the participants to the project will be a youth and a youth with disability coming from Sicily, them both looking for their first employment, aged between 28 and 30 years old, who will develop their European voluntary Service in he town of Numancia de la Sagra, in Spain, for 5 months, from 01/09/2016 to30/01/2017.During their volunteering in Proyecto Kieu, the participants will develop the following activities in the youth center:- office work- management of radio programmes- organization of learning sessions of foreign languages for local youth- promotion of volunteering and Erasmus+ Programme- organizzation of activities to celebrate the European days of Languages and people with disabilities - organizzation of workshops and social activities for the local youth- support in the organization of local events and festivals.The method used for the implementation of the project activities is based on learning by doing, on work in small teamsor work in couples or supervised individual work , on the work on the task/project/event (preparation, organization, realization). The activities addressed to youth will be mediated by the use of instruments as radio, video, photography, socialnetwork and using the method of peer education and sharing personal experiences.In this way Be Young in Europe aims to reach the following objectives:- promoting volunteering and European mobility among young people and young people with disability- stimulating the development of soft skills, enterpreneurship, language and cultural skills by the young volunteers- acquiring competences in the youth work and experience of specific instruments and methods (radio, workshop etc.)- stimulating the raising of awareness of the voluneer's European citizenship - promoting ways of active participation of the youth in their local community- stimultae the feeling of being European in the youth and more in general in the local population- promotion of peer education- promoting intercultural dialoge amonge young people and volunteers- breaking down of stereotypes due to cultural, physical and social differences among the participants , promoting tolerance, solidarity and reciprocal understanding among young people The concrete results of the project will be radio programmes, events and workshops organized by the volunteers, creation and distribution of a video-reportage about the experience of the volunteers, a blog costantly updated by the volunteers and the responsibles of the participating organizations, able to document the entire project, articles on local and on line newspapers, multimedia and interactive presentations about the project , creation of a final leaflet, creation of a guide book of best practices in the field of youth participation, on air interview to the participants on a wek radio, photos and videos about the implemented activities and realization of a promotional event about the project results during local events. The project will have a strong persoanl and social impact on the participants in terms of acquiring of knowledge and competences related to the topic of the project, soft skills and organizational abilities. They will have the opportunity to apply their learning outcomes in their daily life and in their local community, through the proposition of similar activities and through their renewed enterpreneurship; the partner organizations will have the opportunity to cooperate, exchange best practices and to create strong partnership. The impact will be sustainable for the entire duration of the project and it will continue to produce positive effects even after its official conclusion thanks to the wide process of dissemination; furthermore the follow-up plan is to create an extended project able to put in practice the acquired competences and to expand the operating range of the project.
