BeFRIEND Volunteering
Start date: May 1, 2015, End date: Sep 30, 2015 PROJECT  FINISHED

The training course "BeFRIEND Volunteering" addresses the need of promoting and supporting volunteer movement, first of all, in the local communities. Volunteering does not have equal influence or recognition in all European Union countries and neighbouring partner countries. The aim of our training course is providing the youth workers and active volunteers with tools and skills to promote volunteering and to raise awareness of its benefits in the society and to give them the ideas and partnerships for new volunteer activities and projects. The objectives of the training course include inter-cultural learning, development of pro-active approach to life and key competences which will empower the participants of the project, to enhance the international dimension of volunteer activities and the role of youth workers and non-governmental organizations. The training course will take place in Belarus between the 2nd - 10th August 2015 and will gather 33 participants from 10 Programme and Partner countries. The project will consist of 7 days during which the participants will learn how to create, promote and evaluate their volunteer initiatives and projects. The programme of the training course is based on the non-formal education methods and has a good mixture of various activities which encourage active participation and creativity of those who take part in the project. Getting to know each other games, ice-breakers, team-building games, group work, various workshops, field work, round table, inter-cultural evening, NGO Fair, a complex of interesting informal activities and more creative excercises are included into the programme of the training course. All of the above will increase the awareness of the participants about the importance of promoting voluntary work and their interest in new projects. The knowledge gained about volunteering and its promotion will be transferred to the partner oganizations, contributing to their sustainable development. More people will gain the information about the possibilities of active participation as well. We are aiming at having impact not only at the local level (by promoting volunteering and creating the positive image of a volunteer in the local communities), but also at the national, European and international levels in a long-term perspective. This long-term benefits of the training course will become possible on condition that the project will be carefully evaluated by the participants and the trainers and if the results are used in practice by the partner organizations, with further cooperation between all of the partners.
