Be vocational, Be international
Start date: Jun 1, 2016, End date: Nov 30, 2017 PROJECT  FINISHED

"Be vocational, Be international" (BVBI) is a project between the Centro Profesional de FP Ilerna in Lleida and the Swan Training Institute in Dublin , it has been developed for ILERNA vocational students from the following studies : -Video disc-jockey and sound-Auxiliary nurse -Microcomputer systems and networks The main target of the project is to improve the employability of vocational students thanks to the formal and practical recognition of a period of internship abroad, that will also improve their self-esteem and their desire for improving and widening their knowledge. We also want to create more equal opportunities between their working possibilities and the ones from other professionals in the same sector. We can reach this target thanks to the organisation, execution and evaluation of internships in a foreign country. Our group will be of 10 students selected according to strict criteria. To be able to develop the central activity of that project we have joined Swan training institute.Swan is in charge of looking for companies for the professional profiles of our students and their training plans. Swan has a wide network of companies in need of the professional profiles of our students (LOI included). Our reason for having Swan as a partner for our project is because we have had a very good experience with them for Higher education students, they found companies that perfectly matched with our students’ profiles and everything was very well organised, we also had very good references from other Spanish schools that have worked with them. The project is planned to last 18 months and there will be one student mobility during the school year 2017-2018. The mobility will be for 10 students in the last year of their vocational studies; during the first week the students will be accompanied by a teacher to ensure that everything runs smoothly and that the companies welcome and planning is perfect. The internships will last 4 weeks, after this period the students will have improved their competences of their professional profiles, with the added value of doing this training in a foreign company. This training period in Europe in some cases will be part of the compulsory in-company training module, and therefore recognised and graded in the students syllabus, in these cases the students will complete their training in Lleida's companies; in others there will be students who have finished their studies and wish to complete complementary training and therefore improve their CV’s, these students will complete post-studies training that will be recognised through the Europass certificate and a certificate from Swan and Ilerna. The mobilities will take place from June to July 2017Swan will be in charge of all the logistic organisation in Ireland and Ilerna in Spain, Ilerna will be in charge of all project management and everything related to the students in Spain.Once the students are in Ireland and we have established an effective communication system between the - Company/Swan/Ilerna/Student- to make a good tracking and resolve any incidences that may happen. Swan will select together with Ilerna the most suitable companies for the students, and will assign one mentor/tutor from their organisation that together with the company mentor and Ilerna mentor will be in charge of carrying out the aims in the learning agreement, previously signed, and to evaluate the students’ progress. To summarise:With "Be vocational, Be international", Ilerna seeks to achieve the following objectives,- strengthen the Europeanism. - not to discriminate against sexist, religious or cultural reasons. - expand the network of contacts in Europe with training centres and companies. - adapt our needs to the European reality. - recognise the formative period in Europe. - improve the quality in our school training system especially in the vocational levels, with repercussions for all our students. - increase the competitiveness of our students and the employment rate.- motivate and increase the linguistic acquisition of our students and teachersIn all the cases we are looking to give to our Vocational students the tools to increase their employability, to have the same opportunities as others and to give recognition to what is done in the project and we as a Vocational school want to learn from BVBI and improve, update and make our teaching methods more based upon the needs of the European companies and with a theory based in the real experience of a group of students trained in Ilerna.
