Start date: May 1, 2010, End date: Oct 31, 2010 PROJECT  FINISHED

"For a day and night the public will interact with researchers and their field of expertise in order to understand them and be aware of the results of their work. The public will be encouranged to step into the researchers’ shoes: to be researchers for a night (discussing about daily program, the way of working and how to manage successes and failures). The event will be organized in 9 cities, 18 various locations (public institutions, museums, public markets, and shopping malls) in order to gather various public. Different than the other years, we want to reach also medium cities besides the major ones, in order to increase the exposure of the European dimension of the event. A contest will be launched for young students to work with researchers during the preparation months for generating and implementing small research projects, their results being exposed during the event. In this way we encourage a longer interaction with the researchers and their fields of work, wishing that in long term all these actions are going to influence the young students to look for a career in science fields. We want to reach 25000 visitors, 15 project teams, 100 researchers, students and teachers. Also a Science route will be defined in order to create the promotion with special equiped trucks that will go from town to town to spread the spirit of the event. This Science route will be presented on the web portal, so that everyone interested to know where are in that moment the science trucks and when are reaching different points of the targeted cities. During the night, a improvisation play will be run by researchers and animators, so that visitors to get involved in bringing to life characters and actions from science. The coordination of the event will involve researchers, students, teachers, museums and children’s clubs. In this way, people with diferent background and experience will gather around the idea of showing another side of the science and researchers."
