Liceo Scientifico Cannizzaro in Palermo,offers a syllabus which allows students a balanced education both in linguistic-historical-philosophical and scientific fields. The school has about 1750 students who are divided into 73 classes.There are 132 teachers,37 people who belong to the personnel department and 9 laboratory technicians. Students come from different cultural and economic situations, for this reason it is necessary to adopt some teaching methods which can develop the integration and inclusion of them. According to the self-evaluation report,which suggests some areas of improvement, it is important : to promote the development of new teaching-learning methods in an European perspective; to develop better linguistic competences in the way of looking at the CLIL methodology and computer technology; to improve the school integration in order to give a suitable and effective answer to disadvantaged students’needs; to promote the excellences;to improve management’s skills. It will be important the European value which comes from the experiences with foreign teachers who we could start to work with on future . The two-year plan of development provide the participation to different educational courses and job shadowing of 3 members of the managerial staff and 27 teachers of various subjects:Arts,English, Science,Maths and History of Arts,who will be selected according to the standards chosen by the work team and shared with the headmaster and administrative staff. The courses have been chosen among those ones International organizations have proposed;in a previous activity within Comenius projects,the school partner ,for the activity of job shadowing,has been selected. Teachers are expected to have:better competences in methodology( CLIL and ICT ); better comprehension of the educational systems and knowledge other countries have in order to look after the inclusion integration; better skills to bring the learning process up-to-date;to make progress in the ability touse the opportunities of the professional development which can be found in other European countries;better linguistic skills;better motivation and satisfaction in daily work. The experiences of training will be put in POF ( plan of formative offer ) in order to make it become a good practice.The acquired skills and competences such as the internationalizing strategies of learning,the cooperation with partners from other countries,the ability to find and use resources according to various subjects,the ability to create programs which are motivating for the students (including the most disadvantaged),the methodology of CLIL,the good Knowledge of linguistic competences,the skill to integrate the experience and the new methods with the daily routine,will have both a long-term objective (to acquire the skill to attract students and to have a good impact on the educational system in order to reduce school abandonment and intensify excellences) and a medium term objective (students’awareness of European chances). At the end of the project,the school will improve the ability to work inside and outside in an European context respecting international standards,it will be able to find and use in the best of the way the financial resources to increase students’competences.The latter,as they are the true aim of the school system, could have the opportunity to study in a more stimulating and interesting school more suitable to their needs as European citizens.
