Start date: Mar 1, 2016, End date: Sep 30, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

Agros youth club will organise on May 2016 a multilateral youth exchange titled "Be Active". In the project will take part 36 young people from Cyprus, Romania, Italy, Malta,Estonia and Greece. Open, aware, active is an educational project fostering development of civil and social awareness of young people and development of active social participation and initiatives created by youth. Our project is a response to lack of sufficient actions focused on creating civil attitudes and low level of integration of young people with their local and international communities. The main goal is to raise the social activities of youngsters, their engagement in life of local and international communities they live in. The main aim of the eight days of the project is to provide youth workers, leaders and project advisers an opportunity to exchange knowledge, get to new skills and shared lessons learned in their field of interests – promoting healthy lifestyle and well-being among young people across Europe by using different media tools as youth peer education as one of the oldest methods of passing information from one individual to another as health can be regarded as a driver for the social inclusion and empowerment of young people as indispensable to developing their active citizenship. The participants of the training course will take part in theoretical lectures, open debate sessions as in simulations and will look for new ways how to highlight the need to address key health determinants such physical activity, alcohol, drugs and environmental risks taking into account the role of gender. Participants from Romania, Italy, Malta,Estonia and Greece will come to Cyprus and take part in a youth exchange during which they will work together, exchange knowledge, good practices regarding using informal education methods based on journalism, film and photography. During realization of activities we will focus on using almost only informal education – participants will mostly learn from each other (peer education), spending time together in an interesting way, sharing experience, getting to know each others cultures and different points of view. Our project will foster active participation of young people by giving them modern tools based on their interests – we hope that they will play more active role in their communities by taking responsibility for its development like their parents and grandparents did. We will put an emphasis on realization of intercultural dimension of the project. One of the main goals is to break stereotypes, building tolerant approach towards differences and atmosphere of mutual understanding among youth from different countries. The YE is practically oriented and is based upon non-formal learning methods. Organizers will take into account the needs, motivation, interests and experiences of the participants.Main objective is the exchange of ideas and good practices between youngsters from partner countries to better understand the concept of active participation of youngsters in communities and the benefits of volunteer work in the personal, professional and communitarian development. After the project is finished, young people will know theirselves better, will know where they are in life and where they want to go. We are expecting young people to feel more empowered and willing to take actual action and to become active members of their communities. The YE will discuss models and approaches to enhance collaboration among youth and develop quality support systems to increase youth participation of socially excluded youth with specific focus on Rural and young people with disabilities due to the area to which the project will be held.
