The project "Be a European Citizen!" is a youth exchange that takes place in one year. The activities of the project are implemented during 11 days. The activities of the project are a addressed to a number of 66 participants out of which 60 youngstes involved actively in the development of the activities and 6 leaders from: Romania, Portugal, Italy, Croatia, Latvia and Bulgaria. In the development of the project will also take part 18 disadvantaged youngsters that are involved throughout the entire project in the preparation, activity implementation and dissemination steps of the project. The main theme of the project is based on incresing the youngsters’ abilities, developing their skills and knowledge and involving them as active citizens of Europe. The youngsters will be thaught and trained to be able to understand and inform other youngsters about European citizeship. The project encourages the participation of the youngsters in debates about participative democracy and their involvement in the political decisions taken at a local, national or European level. The activities of the project take place from the 3rd to the 13th of September 2015, in Branesti and Bucharest, Romania. The main objectives of the project are: 1. Informing and training a group of 60 youngsters about understanding the concept of citizenship in a historical and contemporary context and practicing active citizenship at a local, national and EU level. 2. Developing non-formal methods to facilitate the understanding of active citizenship by the youngsters and to stimulate them to become real involved actors of social and political involvement in their nations and at a EU level. 3. On the long term, the informations and attitudes developed by the project to reach a minimum of 6.000 youngsters informed at a European level. Including disadvantaged youngsters: the partner associations have agreed to include in the development of the youth activities a number of 18 disadvantaged youngsters that will take part all throughout the project (3 youngsters for each partner country in the project). The youth exchange wants to multiplicate the information and non-formal work methods that our partner associations are developing in this project in order for them to be used in other youth projects at a European level. The dissemination of the information within the current project will be realized through slogans promoting active participation as active citizens and the youngsters will be encouraged to take part in the decision-making processes that are directly related to them. The youngsters involved in the project will produce a series of informative and visual material that will be made popular in the online world. We mention that future of communication and active involvement in societ will be especially virtual and the current politics will pass through massive changes in the future 10 years.
