Basisopleiding Veiligheid voor werkzoekenden en uitzendkrachten

In a move to reduce the risk of industrial accidents, it is now compulsory in a number of sectors for new employees to hold a safety certificate. In the construction and temporary employment sector for example, workers must hold an SCC (SHE Checklist for Contractors) certificate. The training needed to obtain such a certificate does not form an integral part of regular vocational education. Moreover, existing teaching materials are insufficiently geared to the low-skilled. The aim of the “Basic Safety” project is to simplify safety training for job seekers with the assistance of employment agencies and training providers. In addition, the training has to be harmonised at European level, which will allow for mutual recognition. The project also aims to integrate the training programme in vocational education by developing an e-learning self-study and testing programme as well as a teaching method.
