Barátság határok nélkül / Spoločne bez hraníc (Határok nélkül - Bez hraníc.)
Start date: Sep 9, 2009, End date: Sep 8, 2010 PROJECT  FINISHED

The project´s overall objective is to increase the mutual understanding of the different cultures of the people living on both sides of the border. This is realised within the project by a number of exchange visits and joint activities between the Slovak town of Banska Stiavnica and the Hungarian town of Sopron. These two towns are connected by a mutual historical relation and by official ties. The exchanges and other project activities in this pure People-to-People project are organised around the theme: Culture and Cultural Identity. The main target group for the project is young people: school children, students and young artists.By targeting the younger generation the project aims to contribute to a longer term process of reducing the effects and the barriers that the current border has created and aims to stimulate better cooperation, joint planning and joint events between Hungarian and Slovak organisations, institutions and governmental bodies. Achievements: The people to people project was based on common activities between sister cities, also UNESCO sites – the Municipality of Sopron and the Municipality of Banská Štiavnica. The project consisted of a number of exchange visits among different groups of people from both towns (experts on cultural heritage, photographers, students, musicians and artists). The project resulted in new friendships, cordial meetings, knowledge exchange, common websites and different kinds of printed materials.
