Internship in The Vocational Advancement Service of the Association of Construction Industry of Berlin – Brandenburg, which was the part of the learner's mobility project within the project „Foreign internships for students and graduates of vocational schools and vocational training staff” was realized within POWER funds based on the Erasmus+ Programme in the sector of vocational education and training, edition 2014. The project „Be the Architect of Your Future” involved 16 students from the first, third and fourth class of technical school on the landscape architecture technician direction and 2 carers. The aim of the project was the multidirectional development of the students, broadening the competences of its participants especially, but not only in the vocational area, but also in the language, intercultural and personality fields. The realization of the project was the broadening of the theoretical and practical knowledge of the fields: designing and performing of the small architecture forms and getting to know the gardens and garden historical assumptions of Brandenburg. During the project the participants of the internship got to know historical and modern assumptions of the landscape architecture, the flora used in the gardens assumptions, protection, maintenance and conservation of the small architecture forms in the gardens. It also let the students develop themselves in the vocational field and strengthen their self-confidence. In the vocational field the project enabled the participants to improve their skills in the area of designing concrete and natural stone roads within the historical and modern landscape architecture. What is more, the participants got to know the computer programmes (Auto CAD) and technical equipment used in this field. In the language area the participants of the project learnt professional terminology, but also improved their language skills in natural communicative situations during the internship. The subject matter, the plan and the substantive scope of the project resulted directly from the needs of the students. The project of the internship was developed together with the partner and was dedicated to the participants learning in a technical profession and in the same time it touched very current topic – the mobility of a young EU citizen on the job market. The project was a direct answer to the need of such an organization of the education process to take into account also the employers demands. The conducted project entered directly the strategy chosen by the school. On the level of the school these tasks are realized by modernization of the educational base, changing the curriculum and active participation in trainings encouraging to look for modern teaching solutions. The internship complemented their previous theoretical and practical knowledge. The participants acquired skills in the field of organization and techniques of designing and building small architectural forms. They got acquainted with norms and procedures applied in the West European countries, got to know the professional environment, organization and culture of work in another country. Their stay on the internship encouraged them to the openness and cooperation with both employees and employers in German speaking countries. Acquiring practical skills by their contact with modern technologies substantially enhanced the competitiveness of the participants on the domestic labor market and in European employers. All the participants after the successful completion of the project got the certificates of the completion of the internship issued by the partner: apart from the confirmation of participation in the internship they include also comprehensive review of the trainee issued by the training centre. Every participant also got an official certificate confirming taking part in the abroad internship, in both English and Polish languages – Europass Mobility. Long-term benefits of the project are: the employment of the graduates in firms and corporations operating on the local market, which is the result of taking part in the abroad internship, self-employment of the participants and developing their own companies, or continuation of education at universities or further training and gaining similar qualifications in post-secondary school, eg. as a florist.
