Back to the streets
Start date: Jan 15, 2016, End date: Mar 14, 2017 PROJECT  FINISHED

The EVS project Back to the streets was created as a sequel of the Revitalizing nature parks youth exchange, which showed a big lack of well-maintained public areas and events on them. As a part of the exchange, we made a research which served as a base for preparing the activities of the project. On the 7-month EVS project, we will host two young Portuguese volunteers with fewer opportunities. The volunteers will organize different sports, cultural and social events on public areas in Bela krajina. They will take part in opening the hostel where they will help develop creative contents and get familiarized with the process of running the hostel, which will raise their employment options after the end of the project. The state also plans to open a reception centre for refugees in Črnomelj – the volunteers will spend some time there and develop a project about the refugees which have in the past already successfully integrated into the environment of Bela krajina. The Youth Center BIT will share a former boarding school building with a primary school for kids with special needs, where the volunteers will organize different workshops. During the project, different work methods will be used but creativity and self-initiative will be encouraged the most. With the project, we wish to increase the number of events in our organization and strengthen the openness of our organization. We also wish to lift the volunteers’ awareness about personal career planning and strengthen their awareness of developing competences to become easily employable when the project is finished. We wish for the volunteers to acquire the feeling and awareness about the importance of social inclusion of people from the edge of society.
