Back to the Nature; Training of Trainers on Rural Tourism

Tourism is an important driver of the economy in Europe In 2007, more than 9 million people were employed in EU hotels, restaurants and catering (horcea) sector, which equivalent to 4,2% of all people employed. Being conscious about the effect of sector on employment and growth, EU policy makers give utmost importance to enhance tourism potential for employment. Emphasizing on alternative tourism areas are among the policy issues. The analysis conducted by the “European Centre of Development of Vocational Training Skills Supply and Demand in Europe” indicates that the labour demand in Tourism Industry will increase 1% yearly during the next ten years and one million additional employees are needed all over EU countries. A similar trend is also valid for Turkey. Existing skills must be upgraded and skills must be developed to meet new demands in tourism and vocational trainings offers a vital tool for developing skilled labour in this sector.The project aims to contribute to an increase in quality and variety of training on rural tourism and upgrade knowledge and capacities of VET teachers, trainers, tutors with a European perspective, combining the relative strength brought by each partner country. In particular, objectives of the project includes to promote the growth of rural tourism while;• Training VET teachers, tutors, and trainers on rural tourism to provide a better dissemination and valorisation of project outputs which are training modules in rural tourism• Training the computer literate entrepreneurs and managers who will invest in tourism business• Transfer best practices and expertise between partners • Generate dialogue among trainers from partner countries• Create awareness, especially at rural areas where the highland tourism potential is availablePartners from different countries (AT, BG, LV, and TR) will adapt former project results, develop new curricula, training modules and case studies, and thus create a complete course material on rural tourism which will be delivered on-line to the target population of VET teachers, tutors, tourism entrepreneurs and managers.Partnership includes regional chambers, adult education provider, tourism vocational school, tourism associations and consultants. This wide range ensures the link between the developers and receivers.
