Context/backgroundAfter some years of inactivity in internationalization, ROC Leiden aims to become an active player and partner in international cooperation. There still is some experience, there are ideas for the long run and there are a lot of students and lecturers who really want to have experiences abroad. In order to reach this aim, ROC Leiden is planning to act in two ways at the same time.Start facilitating international internships for a group of students and international activities for a group of teachers. At the same time start formulating the strategic vision including internationalization, while using the experiences and evaluations of the participants in the project.Objectives of the projectThis project is meant as a first, but important step in the process of internationalization of ROC Leiden. The main objectives are:- creating an enthousiastic experienced group of students;- creating and keeping an enthousiastic group of staff members;- learning internationalization by practice and translating this in policy development.Number and profile of participants- 20 students, selected on excellence, motivation and enthousiasm;- 10 staff members, selected on motivation, enthiusuasm and capability to help develop an international network and contribution to the development of the strategic internationalization vision and policy. Description of activities.De methodologie van dit project komt overeen met het onderwijsconcept van ROC Leiden, kortheidshalve: praktijkleren.- realizing internships abroad for 20 students in three selected countries, made possible by the cooperation with our partners;- realizing activities of 10 teachers in the three selected countries;- stimulating the participants in co-developing the strategic mission and vision, including internationization.MethodologyThe methodology of this project is consistent with the learning methodology of ROC Leiden, which is based on learning by doing.The theory of chance is to support a group in their international activities now (by using partners as ADC and Estudiantes) and in this way as a stone in the pond create support in the organization to develop the stategy in internationalization.ResultsThe results will consist of two years of evaluations of 20 internships and 10 staff activities in a Western-, Southern and Northern European country. Also a strategy and policy in internationalization with a broad support in the organization;The experiences will be disseminated by articles, Facebook posts, films, interviews etc.There will also be the foundation of an international network of companies and educational institutes.ImpactThe impact on the organization will be the conviction that internationalization is a valuable and necessary part of the strategy of ROC Leiden. There will be possibilities for more students to go abroad and there is support from staff members, teachers and management. There is a foundation for continuing projects in Key Action I as well as Key Action II. Regional, national and international stakeholders will recognize ROC Leiden as an interesting partner.
