BABEL

The project BABEL provides the students of IKATA and Escuela de Arte Burgos with the opportunity to encounter each others' cultures, and to create transnational friendhips while improving their language, co-operation and communication skills and profiting from the partner schools expertises in order to widen their professional skills; the addiditional value brought to the students' normal curriculum by the project being therefore extensive. The participating groups - from Finland 20 students and 4 teachers, from Spain 15 students and 3 teachers - will realise two weeks long reciprocal exchanges preceded by appropriate linguistic and cultural preparation and communication with the group in the partner school. As a result of this project, the aforementioned skills of the students will increase making them more aware of the value of the common European cultural heritage and that of their own culture, and better prepared to face the European labour market as active participants. The impact of the project will be extensive within the participating organisations, the incoming groups spreading to different departments in their host organisations. The main products of this project will be a professional glossary and an illustrated travel account, which will be effectively disseminated and used in the preparation of future student exchanges. The students will be active participants in the planning, realisation and evaluation of the project. The co-operation between the partners will be ensured by previous co-operation, strong personal contacts, effective communication and joint planning during and after a preparative visit.
