100 UK based participants; young people from low socioeconomic backgrounds with limited opportunities, are offered a 2 week EU mobility experience. These opportunities will support a wide range of young people with access to opportunities that are not generally available in the acquisition of competences, knowledge, skills and attitudes including self-confidence, team work, inter-cultural skills, communication skills. relationship management, cultural awareness, language skills, employability and entrepreneurship skills. Accompanying Adults/Tutors supporting each group of 10 trainees will be undergoing professional & personal development, either through work shadowing our receiving EU partners, or through training hosted in the EU partner’s work place to observe mobility delivery and teaching methods. Assignments are agreed and learning outcomes will be appropriately recognised, disseminated and used in the continuous improvement of mobility experiences. Learners will participate in a structured work programme with defined learning objectives. A learning-centered approach to meet the needs of the young people will be employed to empower them to shape their own future by providing European opportunities to develop their competences. The projects are designed to offer a structured work based programme to support participants' vocational education and training needs, and also to establish Apprenticeship pathways for young people which support progression into employment & preparation for jobs for the future & the European labour market, therefore increasing the volume of mobility throughout Europe. It will also fulfil both EU & UK ambitions for improving quality & diversity of Apprenticeship training. In previous projects 2 York College Apprentices were offered employment in Europe, although decided to complete their Apprenticeship before making this first step into employment in an EU state. Apprentices experiencing sports coaching training in Valencia, Spain, were encouraged to learn another language, resulting in one individual taking up employment in Greece during the holiday period to expand his knowledge of foreign languages. For Tutors it will encourage best practice & innovation between EU partners: through workshops debates, discovering new cultures, habits and lifestyles via peer learning, job shadowing teaching and training methods including industry visits as enhancements. The experiences offer opportunities that operate as an open-access activity, targeted support that will enhance the competences of young people while addressing the barriers they encounter, and address the particular role for young people with fewer opportunities. Teaching skills and techniques of accompanying tutors support the professional development of those who work in education, training and youth. This project will support priorities from a core part of the EU Youth Strategy for 2010-18, and overall objectives: To provide more and equal opportunities for young people in education and in the job market, To encourage young people to actively participate in society, To raise participants' awareness and understanding of other cultures, having limited access to opportunities to broaden horizons. We aim to promote young people’s learning about Employment and Enterprise, social inclusion and wellbeing, notably to tackle the issue of youth unemployment by offering a structured work programme. Our overall objectives are to boost competences, awareness of EU labour market, social inclusion and active citizenship. This project focuses on young people from low socio-economic backgrounds and will offer access to programmes to improve learning performance and develop knowledge, skills and attitudes and add a unique element to their learning outcomes. The long term benefits will be participants' professional and personal development, broadened horizons, and more awareness of the European labour market. They will experience first-hand a different culture with encouraged language development and be introduced to the value of friendship, citizenship and common framework making them more empowered to shape their own future both in terms of employability and social interaction. Difficulties in education, employment, inclusion and health, further combined to problems in finance, housing or transport, make it difficult for young people to achieve autonomy: a situation where they have the resources and opportunities to manage their own lives, fully participate in society and decide independently. This project will address these issues and will build confidence in these young people, motivate and encourage them and ensure a better recognition of competences gained through the learning periods abroad.
