Avoiding Collisions at Sea

This project has two main aims: one concerns identifying skill gaps and the other refers to identifying problems in the application of current collision regulations (COLREGs, 1972). This project will be worthwhile for improving the ways of learning rules for avoiding collisions at the sea for students of the Faculty of Maritime studies, as well as for increasing knowledge and understanding of the rules for seafarers within the lifelong learning program.Main objectives of the project:- to identify problems in the application of current collision regulations,- an review of COLREGs (IMO),- to provide means that all seafarers should have mutual understanding of rules and their application,- to create an online course for seafarers to fully understand and correctly interpret the COLREGs,- to enable flexible access to training and qualifications. Project consortium consists of 6 partners:- Faculty of Maritime studies, Croatia (applicant organization)- Centre For Factories Of The Future Limited, UK (co-ordinator)- Piri Reis University, Turkey - Spinaker, navtično izobraževanje, d.o.o., Slovenia- Nicola Vaptsarov Naval Academy, Bulgaria- Sea Teach S.L, SpainThe ACTs project consortium will work together to develop a solution to the knowledge gaps and deficiencies in the application of COLREGs by seafarers.Each member of the consortium has expertise in the field and has been assigned responsibilities accordingly in the development of the COLREGs course.
