The internationalization of the economy creates new demands on employees and employers . The necessary skills to work successfully in a globalized world should already be acquired through internships in other European countries within the initial training period . Only 4% of all trainees complete a stay abroad during their training period. The overall objective of the project is to promote cross-border mobility of trainees and training staff in the craft sector and make the possibility of studying abroad in training period better known. In addition, the project aims to develop key skills such as the self-confidence, flexibility and the capacity for team work of the trainees and the acquisition of intercultural skills and foreign language competences. As part of the project five actions for learners and one action for training personnel take place. The actions for learners are structured as follows:Trainees from various trades of the member companies of the Chamber of Crafts Frankfurt-Rhein-Main complete as part of their vocational training a four-week stay abroad in Vicenza / Italy or in Porvoo / Finland.As part of this project 3 departures to Italy and two departures to Finland will take place. A total of 16 participants complete an internship abroad in Italy and 4 students will complete an internship in Finland. In both countries, the trainees attend in the first week an orientation week in which they receive language training, get to know the new environment and participate in job interviews with their placement companies. The orientation week is followed by a three-week internship. Working in Italian and Finnish companies enable the trainees to learn other procedures, techniques, to develop their personal skills and remove barriers to communicate in other languages. In the long term, the apprentices will benefit as their stay abroad has a positive effect on their employment opportunities as they improve their skills and get aware of the European labour market. The sending companies can present themselves as an attractive employer by offering internships abroad.The action for training personnel will take place from Monday to Friday in Madrid. The participants in this action are training tutors, company owners and vocational teachers who train in Germany young Spaniards in their companies or vocational school. The action for training staff aims to strengthen the cooperation between Spanish and German institutions in vocational education training, create long-term cooperation between enterprises and educational institutions with respect to the increase the employment opportunities in Europe and to promote the internationalization of vocational eduation and training.During the stay in Madrid various training institutions and training companies are visited and discussions about the different VET systems, the European labor market and measures to drecrease the youth unemployment rate in Europe are discussed.
