Autism Connections Europe
Start date: Nov 1, 2009,

Term "social inclusion" refers to coordinated action for purpose of integration of different social groups. The project Autism Connection Europe (ACE) will focus on adults with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) who are lacking different communication skills which also reflect in flexibility of thinking. Projects activities will deal with development of new approaches which will retrieve the situation in which persons with ASD are put in: their' s social exclusion. It is important to stress out that persons with ASD are achieving excellency in many other fields like systematizing (therefore working with ICT).This can be explained with the fact that they need very structured and foreseeing environment in order to function as any other person. In project ACE we will conduct many coordinated activities which will result in innovative approaches for resolving the described situation. We are deriving from already existing practices in the world, but they are performed separately. In ACE we tend to organise them systematicaly to ensure multiplying long term effects. Through on-line communities we will encourage and facilitate communication within our primary target group (adults with ASD but also their families, menthors...).Communication in this stage will be opened to all persons with ASD to promote social inclusion. Social bonds established in "virtual world" will be in latter stage be upgraded in 4 thematic international congresses, where persons will meet and together perform different activities set in event agenda. The process of development of social connection will be carefully documented in scientific research. Guides with instructions how to use ICT for communication, different web dangers, and alternatives to virtual communication will be presented in booklet and as movie, all available in partners languages. Impact is expected on personal level (independence, active citizenship), system level (EU methodology).
