The Westschool in Heidenheim is a primary and secondary school in Baden-Württemberg. For a long time we have taken a lot of pupils from Hungary in our school and we have taught them in the German language. These pupils are in our preparation classes, in which they mainly learn German. The conversations with the Hungarian parents are often difficult, because our teachers have no experience with the Hungarian school and education system. In our project we would like to learn a lot about the scholar and educational system at our partner school in Hungary. Five teachers will travel to Hungary for one week and have a look at the lessons in the partner school. They will receive a lot of information from the local teachers and their school administration. For the participation in the project, we have selected teachers who already teach in our preparation classes. In advance of the excursion there will be meetings, at which the teachers will think about the benefits and expectation of the project. Furthermore questions about the travel will be clarified (for example insurance, hotel, ...). After the project the participants will speak at a meeting with all teachers from the school about their experiences and insights. There will also be a meeting with the other schools in Heidenheim that have preparation classes, too. In this meeting the participants will tell about their experiences and communicate the acquired knowledge to the other teachers. The results of the project should be reflected in our conception of the preparation classes. Experiences and acquired knowledge will be implemented in the classroom and in conversations with parents.
