Auslandspraktikum für Schüler der Timmermeister Schule für Ergotherapie
Start date: Jun 1, 2015, End date: May 31, 2017 PROJECT  FINISHED

We are applying for the Erasmus+ programme to offer our students of occupational therapy the possibility to gain experiences in occupational therapy institutions in abroad. Our students are in their third year of a three-year vocational training at the Timmermeister Schule in Münster, Germany. The Timmermeister Schule was found in 1974 and is a private, state-approved school for vocational trainings in the health-care sector. School fees have to be paid for all our trainings. The monthly fee is generally covered privately. Our training in occupational therapy has been accredited by the WFTO (World Federation of Occupational Therapists). As a school for vocational trainings we believe in the idea of the European Union and we are confident that a stay abroad enables our students to broaden their linguistic and subject-related knowledge. An Erasmus+ funding would offer our students the opportunity to test their competence and to acquire national approaches in occupational therapy. We also hope that the participants will enlarge their own skills spectrum of occupational therapy interventions and that they use national and international resources to contribute to a higher degree of specialisation and quality assurance. Furthermore, participants will support the professionalization process by means of self-reflexion regarding values, norms, conceptions and job-related procedures. Therefore it is vital to get in touch with colleagues from abroad and to establish networks. This will also lead to a higher competitiveness for our students on the national and international job-market. In the long run we intend to establish an active exchange with occupational therapy institutions. Partnerships could be found so that on an international basis the profession of the occupational therapist can be developped further.
