Ausbildung ohne Grenzen - mit LEONARDO DA VINCI nach Malta
Start date: Jun 1, 2014, End date: May 31, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

In summer 2015, we sent 15 trainees abroad for an four week internship. An additional 5 apprentices were able to travel to Malta in the spring of 2016. After arriving in Malta, our participants began their four week stay by moving into their apartments. The first two days were for orientation. The two day orientation is necessary for the participations to acquaint themselves with the local infrastructure as well as with cultural, religious and geographical background of the island. In discussion groups, the participants were reporting about their expectations of the internship, the program and the current circumstances. Also they received general information about a successful start in their internship. Finally, the participants were given some impressions and key facilities of Malta for their daily life in Malta. This orientation period started the participants off well and gave them some self-confidence for their first internship in a foreign EU - country. Then the participants started their four week internships in different placements. Prior to the internship, individual concepts were developed and possible areas of activities of internships were agreed. Depending on their job description the participants were placed in real estate companies, event agencies, radio stations, film and TV stations, fitness studios and sport clubs, cultural and leisure sites. During these internships, the participants were doing the same tasks as in Germany: administration, receiving and forwarding calls, customer care and costumer advice, sales and support etc.. The participants wrote, on a weekly basis documentation of their internship activities in their record books, in line with the common practice in Germany. Furthermore they talked about their activities with their supervisors in the Maltese companies. All activities were designed to the learning targets and corresponded with the quality requirement of mobility projects. By sending a weekly report to the partnership organization, the quality of the internship could be guaranteed. During the internship there was continuous communication between the partnership organization in Malta and the responsible project coordinator of Forum Berufsbildung regarding the course of the project. At the end of the internship, every participant received a certificate for their practical work on location. The educational targets were fixed by the contract of educational objectives between Forum Berufsbildung, apprentices and internship company, they represent a base for the „Europass Mobilität“. After arriving in Berlin, the apprentices had to write a report about their four week experience. Since the apprentices agreed , Forum Berufsbildung is allowed to publish individual internship reports for example on their homepage or on the subsequently project documentation.
