Aulas sin fronteras: profesores innovadores y alumnos proactivos en una Europa plurilingüe / Classrooms without Boundaries: Innovative Teachers and Proactive Students in a Plurilingual Europe
Start date: Jul 1, 2016, End date: Aug 31, 2017 PROJECT  FINISHED

Our world is in constant technological evolution, which means teachers must be constantly updating their methodologies in order to cover each individual’s needs in a new European perspective. Therefore, being aware of our role in the world of adult education, we at EOI Lleida have decided, in order to cover this demand, to implement a European Development Project, which has the following aims:1. To go beyond the boundaries of the classroom, thus making the student’s time and space more flexible, by way of new teaching methods. Outside it, there must be effective ICT teacher-student / student-student interaction. We would like to become guides in the student’s learning process and flip the classroom, making it a place where the student can create, analyse and self-assess. Outside the classroom the student understands, reflects, selects and processes. 2. To improve the teacher’s management of virtual learning environments and promote an effective and dynamic use of them as a means of teacher-student / student-student connectivity, an aspect which is especially relevant in blended classrooms. 3. To foster collaborative learning amongst the students via the virtual classrooms the school has, and to promote their proactivity via new practises inside and outside the classroom. The 8 teachers who have been selected to participate in this project possess a great deal of experience in language teaching and have a great capacity for communicating and coordinating so that these changes can be implemented and disseminated in an effective way. With the course “CLIC: La classe inversée” we will go in depth into the practises based on flipping the classroom to incentivise the student’s proactivity. In “21st Century Skills” we will bring ourselves up to date about the new student’s needs, exploring innovative alternatives to traditional methodologies. With “Blended Learning in Language Education” we will delve into active and effective management of teacher-student / student-student communication in virtual learning environments. With “Tablets, Apps & Web 2.0 im Deutschunterricht” we will get to know the application of ICT inside and outside the classroom by promoting pedagogical dynamics and student proactivity. "Creative Learning and Teaching using ICT and the Cultural Environment” will allow us to be able to design and disseminate digital narration, interactive and creative fiction about the cultural environment with ICT applications, paying specific attention to collaborative learning. In "Game-based Learning" we will be given tools in the cooperative aspect of game-based learning. "Learntec 2017" will enable us to acquire a global awareness of the latest developments in ICT related to education, especially in gamification. Finally, "Technology Assisted Language Learning" and "Practical Uses of Mobile Technologies in the Language Classroom" will train us in the practical application of the latest developments in classroom technology aimed at teacher-student / student-student communication and it will provide us with innovative ICT strategies and methodologies, focussing on the student in the teaching-learning process. As a result of all these courses, we hope to become innovative in the classroom and use flipped classrooms, meaning a new teaching approach based on the student’s proactive and collaborative learning. We will develop an understanding of the resources and abilities needed in the 21st century and their effective implementation in teaching practice, to attend to the student’s needs. We will acquire technical and dynamic expertise in new virtual learning environments, programmes and applications, and we will put them into practice in order to contribute to this new way of knowledge building, placing special emphasis on blended classrooms, which we foresee as the future for teaching. We will also foster innovation by using gamification as a methodological tool. Our teachers will attain a more efficient management of technologies thus achieving a better use of the virtual classrooms and more fluid teacher-student / student-student communication. These activities will have an impact on the dynamics of the physical and virtual classroom at EOI Lleida, on teacher-student / student-student intercommunication, and also on the teachers’ effective management of ICT, and will be reflected as good practices and integrated as methodologies and new didactics in the syllabi and in the school’s Comprehensive Education Plan (PEC). The long-term benefits will be qualitative (with the improvement in both classroom-based and virtual teaching practices, thus giving rise to the students becoming protagonists and enhancing their competence) as well as quantitative (gauged by the results in tests at certificate level). The benefits will be as much for the school an innovative institution in educational practices as nationally and internationally, by way of the dissemination of the results of the project.
