Assistant Librarian - Trainees: Michela Predan, Maja Kokove - Hrovat
Start date: May 31, 2004, End date: Jul 30, 2005 PROJECT  FINISHED

This project, of a cultural nature, offers two apprenticeships to two young people: one residing in the eligible area in Italy, the other in the Republic of Slovenia. In this sense, work experiences represent an effective tool to give the unemployed an opportunity to get in direct contact with the work environment. During the period of training (eight months), the Italian candidate works as an apprentice at the Municipal Library of Tolmin – Knjižnica Cirila Kosmača while the Slovenian trainee works at the Municipal Library of San Pietro al Natisone as well as the Municipal Library of Tolmin. The Italian trainee is also constantly updated on the activities that are carried out at the library branches of Bovec and Kobarid, and takes part in the promotion of books through the itinerant - travelling library or “biblio-bus”. The trainees, supervised by a tutor, learn how to manage documentation, ISBD bibliographical description, the cataloguing by author and subject, the CDD Dewey Decimal classification, record filing techniques, research, archives management, assisting users, organising exhibitions and cultural initiatives aimed at the promotion of the existing book heritage.
