Our overall purpose is increase safety in the settlements endangered by flooding in May Juny of 2010 and to improve of their surroundings and to reduce the risk of flooding or other water damages, to provide water quality and to prevent other natural cases of damage. The program contribute to achieving the specific goals of section 4. ( Protecting our natural value)Our specific purposes:- the partners can harmonise their water building activities in the common 3 catchment areas in 10 Slovak and 34 Hungarian settlements. They harmonise their activities the needed plans and studies and to have authorized plans for the start of development.- To have a close relationship and cooperation between the operators of water and at the level of municipalities, and other authorities with the water authorities in the two countries which had to face with the disaster in May Juny of 2010. in the catchment area of the river Ipoly because of the extraordinary weather- To avoid the negative ecological or economic effects of flooding or inland inundation with the authorised permits and plans which are the results of our project- To build up an operable cooperation network. Set up a common project management and write common action plans and venture strategies- To connect the results of our projects to those plans, permits and project which were made for the whole watershed area of the river Ipoly. Achievements: The river Ipeľ/Ipoly forms a natural border in the region. A lot of small streams flow into the river from both sides. The protection of its watershed area can be solved only with a wide cooperation and with the harmonisation of planning. In order to start the process of preparation for construction of flood protection in villages most endangered by the floods in the river basin of Ipeľ/Ipoly, the project team managed to finish the preliminary plan related to 35 settlements in Hungary and to 10 settlements in Slovakia. The preliminary plan highlights the points of intervention and construction work that need to be planned.
