ArtiVistes
Start date: Feb 1, 2012,

"ARTivistes" is a youth exchange on urban art and how art can be used as a tool to motivate youngsters to actively and voluntarily participation in their local environment. There will be thirty young participants from six different countries: Greece, France, Lithuania, Latvia, Turkey and Italy. It will take place in Kalamata, Greece from the 21st to the 30`" of July, nine days in total. The group will consist of youngsters with fewer opportunities (economical, social, geographical and educational) and participants who have experience in street art.The participants will be divided into groups, according to their field of interest (Media, Art and Music). Each group will be led by a facilitator who will have experience both in art and youth work. The first part of the project will be dedicated to artistic workshops which will help the participants prepare for the second part of the project- the final product. They will have an active role in the preparation, promotion, organization and realization of the final event which will happen in the streets of Kalamata, involving the local community. The participants will present their work, the Youth in Action program and the project itself. The third part of the project will be devoted to evaluation, summarizing the project, learning about the YiA program and gathering ideas for the follow up. To fulfill these objectives we plan to use non formal education, intercultural and interactive learning methods which focus on self expression through non verbal and non violent communication.
