Art in Urban Space- our Space
Start date: Aug 1, 2013,

The Urban Culture comes from young people and is under constant construction. It might be understood as a sub-culture, as social movement, direction in modern art or vandalism. It expresses the voice of the street and transforms with the current events that touch the young people who implement it. Therefore it can't be ignored by the recent youth work, it must be considered as a way of raising the voice of youth, the participative approach of those who refuse to use traditional way to comment the reality. All partner organisations are interested in deeper exploration of the concept of Urban Art in Youth work. Young people from 6 European countries: Poland, Macedonia, Montenegro, Albania, Luxembourg and Italy will meet in order to exchange, learn, reflect and grow together. The project will offer them a chance to take part in 4 urban art workshops, communicate with local people and authorities, expose their work to the public and plan the future - common projects as well as personal and professional development. The project will be open for young people with less opportunities. Many of them grew up in weak economical conditions and did not have a chance to take part in the project like this one. They will have a chance to taste the non-formal education project where their learning will depend in their choices and involvement. We would like to show them that even without diploma, the personal and professional development is possible and prove how many key-competences can be gained during one week of the project. Together with partners we will work on the follow up of that experience in our local communities. Finally, the project will bring a strong citizenship dimension: the participants will be empowered to come in contact with local authorities, dialogue with them about ownership of urban space, discuss about possibilities for social involvement and partricipation by art. We are convinced that civic competence starts where the voice are expressed.
