Art In Service Of Dialogue

The Youth Exchange "Art in service of dialogue" is an international cultural exchange project taking place in Ureki, Western Georgia - where youth, Poland, Georgia and Ukraine will meet in order to share their experience in performing and create a dialogue between cultures. The project focusing on creating individual development of each participant through the sharing of cultural differences, creativity, innovation and joint preparation of a street theatre performance. Each country is obliged to bring some knowledge and experience in one of the street theatre performance parts. In order to improve active participation, leadership skills and youth initiatives there will be a space for self-organized workshops in the open space format, so all the participants could both conduct the work-shops by themselves and freely choose topics they are interested to participate. Through theater, music, dancing which express traditions and roots of particular region, but also contemporary trends the project aims to raise awareness of young people that "cultural differences" and "intercultural dialogue" are not abstract concepts but events in which they participate and benefit from and may use them to develop their local community. During 10 days 28 young people from 4 countries will work in international teams on such topics: music, dancing, theatre, costumes and decorations. They will jointly prepare the scenario for the theater play and perform a street theatre play. The play will be shown to Georgian local community of Ureki and Batumi and will provide local community with an overview on the intercultural dialogue creation.
