Arbetsplatsförlagt lärande - IKEA Edinburgh
Start date: Jul 1, 2016, End date: Jun 30, 2018 PROJECT  FINISHED

WORKPLACE-BASED LEARNING – IKEA, EDINBURG The aim with this project is that our students will get the opportunity to locate their workplace-based learning (internships), abroad for three weeks at one point during their three years in Upper Secondary School. Diploma objectives for the Business and Administration program require contacts between people and countries where personal interaction is important. The program will develop students' ability to meet people in both business and employee relations. The professional role involves taking responsibility and acting with discretion. The program will develop the students' ability to act in an ethical manner in their future profession. In the professional field, students also discuss and reflect on the environmental aspects of entrepreneurship and role in society. NTI Sollentuna's vision is to offer students an international perspective and increased global cooperation for a total of 12 students. An international collaboration raises the quality of their own education, helps students find their place in the international market as well as creating an understanding of the ever-increasing trend of globalization. IKEA is a Swedish multinational company and it is valuable for our students to see how IKEA works with trade and service, marketing and communications internationally. The students' experiences to speak English in the workplace will be invaluable. There is a clear link between the work place and the Business and administration program, where students will develop the skills to perform duties in professions such as sales, purchasing and supply chain, service, finance, monitoring and enterprise. Students who will benefit from this project have already done seven weeks of work-based learning at companies in retail and service. For students to gain an insight, we have made contact with IKEA in Stockholm for a study visit; this to create an interest in the company and work-based learning at IKEA Edinburgh. We have also planned for the students who get the opportunity to work at IKEA Edinburgh, to work at an IKEA store in Stockholm for three days before they leave for Edinburgh.
