Arbeitserfahrung im Ausland (London, GBR)
Start date: Jun 1, 2016, End date: May 31, 2017 PROJECT  FINISHED

Project name: Work Experience in England (London, GBR) Background: BHAK Linz-Auhof would like to offer its senior students a 2-week work experience abroad to put in practice what they have learned in the classroom in the last four years. Several of the participants have taken Business Studies in English since year 11 and Marketing in English for one year, thus have a very good command of business English. After four years of studies at our school, all students are proficient in office management skills and drafting business letters in English. A work placement program would be extremely useful for them. We are also confident that our students will prove to be valuable contributors in their host companies. Project goals: - sharpen language skills - put theory into practice - demonstrate to participants that job mobility in the EU is feasible and fun, thus motivating them to consider applying for a job abroad in the future - boost participants' self confidence, independence and tolerance towards different cultures and life styles - understand different business practices - increase their job and career chances through the acquisition of the Europass document Number of participants: 20 + 1 group leader Our candidate participants: - will be completing their final school year at the time of the project, - have solid language skills corresponding to language level B1+/B2 or higher, - are reliable and show professional behaviour, - are mature and socially capable of handling the challenges of the project, - have solid grades, - appreciate the special opportunity afforded by the project and are highly motivated to earn the right to participate. Main activities: Project participants will stay with host families in the area. For two weeks, Monday thru Friday, they will work at an assigned local company, be mentored by ADC College and monitored by the group leader. On weekends, the group will make sightseeing trips in and around London. At the end of the project, participants submit a formal evaluation of their work experience, are themselves evaluated by their workplace mentors, and receive a certificate of accomplishment as well as a validated Europass. Project execution: BHAK Linz-Auhof will work in cooperation with ADC College in London, which will be our partner for this work experience project. They have 20 years of experience in organising language weeks and work placements for many EU countries. Expected results:During this two-week project, we expect our students to improve their language skills, gain self- confidence and experience first-hand the EU job market. This experience is bound to help them pass their school leaving exam and will ultimately increase their chances to be successful in the job market. We expect our school, BHAK Linz-Auhof, to become even more attractive to potential new students, to confirm our position and reputation as an internationally oriented institution in the region and garner increased attention of local and regional companies interested in our graduates.
