"Aprendiendo en Europa, Formando Jóvenes en Canarias"
Start date: Jun 1, 2016, End date: May 31, 2017 PROJECT  FINISHED

“Learning in Europe, training teenagers in The Canary Islands” is a Key 1 Action Erasmus + project submitted by the IES Villa de Mazo. Our school is a secondary state school where also Bachillerato and vocational studies are taught. We have more than 400 students and 42 teachers. In our school assesment we have found the following needs:We should improve school attainment, increase the number of students who study their proper educational level and improve their academic record. We should try to reduce school absence, making students involved in their own training process and getting them to develop their skills. We should try to enhance their linguistic competences to get on with success in an environment where tourism is one of our main economic resources and to strengthen our European dimension. In this project, five different departments are involved in a direct way: Counseling, Foreign Languages, Physics and Chemistry, Physical Education, Spanish Language and Literature and the Management Team. However, the rest of our school teachers and other colleagues from other schools on our island, have also taken part as the receivers of this information.Four mobility actions have been chosen. These actions which are formative training courses also include observation activities in the classroom in countries and schools which have achieved very good results in relation to the aims we have set. Four of our permanent teachers, who are also responsible for different projects, will take place in these mobility actions. Our goal is that this group of teachers acquires all the knowledge included in the methodological courses we have chosen. We want to reduce the early absence in our school, value the leadership capacity of our students, encourage the entrepreneurship competences and guarantee that our teenagers can have an access and participation into a high quality inclusive education. We will also develop social and communicative abilities during our mobility, working in the language of the chosen course and once we are back developing the bibliographic and audiovisual documents to become known among our colleagues and different platforms.During the following moths after our mobility experience, the teachers of our school will have access to these new documents and different working ways in order to be able to implement some training and teaching improvements during the second and third term of 2016-17 year course. If these measures become positive, they will be taken into account during the following year courses.
