APOYO EN ACTIVIDADES PARA PERSONAS CON DISCAPACIDAD
Start date: Sep 1, 2014, End date: Sep 1, 2015 PROJECT  FINISHED

FAAM EVS project "Support in activities for disabled people" is within the activities of the organization, helping to its main purpose of achieving the total integration of disabled people. Moreover, it gives a great contribution both for our entity and for the participant volunteers and organizations, as it increases the mutual knowledge of our cultures and views, helping to increase and improve the competences and professional, technique, social, etc. skills. Throu its EVS project FAAM hosts 3 volunteers with interest and motivation to collaborate in the field of disability and social exclusion, and with ages between 18 and 30 years old, focusing our selection to young people who are emotionally and psichologicaly mature enough to face constructively the daily problems of people with very severe physical and mental disabilities. Volunteers perform support activities organized by both FAAM and its associations in favour of disabled people, mainly supporting the staff of daycare centres for elderly and disabled people managed by FAAM. The main tasks of volunterrs are helping with thansportation, meals, cleanliness and occupational therapy of elderly and disabled people. Volunteers also supports people with great disabilities for their transportation. Finally, volunteers also collaborate in FAAM summer camp and leasure activities organized by FAAM and its asociations for disabled people. The methodology used throughout the whole project is always changing and participating, adjusting to suggestions, proposals and needs of all parts involved (sending organizations, volunteers, hosting organization and elderly and disabled people). FAAM hopes that collaboration of volunteers in different activities gives a great contribution to achieve the total integration of disabled people. On the other hand, FAAM wants to achieve as a main point the awareness of volunteers about daily problems of disabled people, something of course FAAM hopes that continues after their EVS project The impact FAAM wants to achieve in all participants involved is the awareness of all participants (sending organizations, volunteers, users of FAAM activities and centres) about the problems of disabled people, with the main aim of achieving the total integration of disabled people. Long-term FAAM hopes that volunteers and participant organization keep in contact with the entity after the end of the project, with the aim of collaborating in any activity of interest. And over all that FAAM hopes that the interest and awareness of the importance of keep working on behalf of disabled people never disappears.
