"APOYANDO EMPRENDIMIENTOS DE JÓVENES CLASIFICADORES URBANOS" (Supporting social business for Young Urban Solid Waste Pickers) project will take place in Montevideo city and in the suburban area where Association Retos al Sur manages a micro-credit programme for young waste pickers groups.The project gives the chance to 1 EVS volunteer to work for a period of 12 months in the association venues.The project concerns three main objectives and related activities.The first one is to improve life conditions and capability level for groups with less opportunities, offering them assistance in training social business management, recycling matters and taking care of their working condition such as security and health issues.A second aim of the project will concern the relationship with the local community. As a matter of fact, young waste pickers are bad considered in the whole society. The project aims to build strong communication channels in order to inform society about new sustainable ways of managing waste. In this sense young waste pickers will be seen by the society as positive agents because they will ensure environmental sustainability and preservation.The third aim of the project concerns the sustainability of the project. The volunteer will help Retos al Sur association to create a strong relationship with public institutions, private corporations and organization.According to his skills, the volunteer will be also involved in workshop, trips and any kind of non formal activities with children and young people or students in order to aware them about waste, recycling and sustainable environment topics.The period of service will give the volunteer the possibility to learn other ways of being an active citizen, practicing in the field the European values of youth participation, solidarity, dialogue and respect of diversity.
