Dimotiko Scholeio Potamias, which operates with a small number of pupils, has set the goal of more effective Sciences teaching and improvement of the learning outcomes of pupils in Mathematics and Science. During the school year 2016-2017 29 pupils will attend the school and six teachers will be teaching there. The teachers have previous experience in European projects, can use effectivly new technologies in the classroom, hold postgraduate qualifications in teaching and desire for continuous training in recent trends of education.The title of the project proposed is "Effective teaching in Mathematics and Natural Sciences". The project aims to train of teachers in new teaching methods in Sciences and how the use of new technologies and robotics can improve their teaching, to improve the learning outcomes of pupils in Sciences. Other aims of the project are to develop positive attitudes towards Sciences, to connect the learning process with the Science museums and non-formal education, to exchange good practices and to establish links among European teachers, to acquire the knowledge and experiences of other educational systems, to improve communication and language skills, to strengthen European identity and awareness, to strengthen the professional profile of those involved through this experience. The project includes planned activities within the school and mobilities in countries of the European Union.Teachers will participate in structured training courses and in "Job shadowing" activities and will cooperate with five host organizations. They will participate in training courses:-'Maths Course' (organizer: International Study Programmes) on the teaching of mathematics in primary schools-'School And science museum: Cooperation for improving teaching, learning and discovery '(organizer National Museum of Science and Technology Leonardo da Vinci) on the museum as an educational tool for teaching and learning of Science-'What Is Robotics for Schools? Teaching technology and robotics for all age ranges' (organizer: Eucourses.eu) on Technology and Robotics in schools-'Get Up with Natural Science '(organizer: eduKarjala) on the teaching of science.Furthermore, in Karol Wojtyła Primary School No 8 in Poland the teachers will participate into "Job Shadowing" activities to monitor Mathematics, Science and Technology courses, to get familiar with the educational system and the curriculum of Mathmatics and Natural Sciences of the country and exchange ideas and good practices.Teachers will implement new methods, ideas and practices, that will derive from the mobilities, in teaching. Colleagues and parents will have the opportunity to observe the lessons. The experience and acquired knowledge and skills will be integrated into the curriculum of the school. The teachers will dedicate time on staff meetings for the preparation of the work plan and organization of activities to be carried out at school. Regular, ongoing assessments will be carried out to record the pupils perspectives in order to redesign the work plan. Ιnitial and final evaluation, at the beginning and end of the project, will show to what the extend the project aims were met. More measures will be taken for dissemination of project results, such as posts in educational blogs, writing articles etc.The project will have an impact on teachers and pupils of the school. Teachers will be benefited by participating in training programs. With the implementation of new methods and ideas and the use of technology, pupils will improve their learning outcomes. The school will be benefited, since the curriculum will be enriched with new teaching methods and technologies and will be internationalized. Most importantly, the participants will broaden their horizons, they will be able to get involved in European projects such as eTwinning and Erasmus +, and become more active members of the European family.
