Forest with its products and services is an important source of public welfare. The forest provides timber for construction and furniture, wood biomass for energy generation, place to live and food. Forests protect water resources and soil erosion, hosts an important part of biodiversity. The forest is a source of income for people and families, and offers a variety of recreational facilities (' the Forest -based Sector Development Guidelines for 2015 - 2020 " ).Environment, waterproof and cultural heritage preservation during the forest management work provides sustainable forest management that is essential for the forest certification and wood product processors.The project "Training - environmental, waterproof and cultural heritage preservation during the forest management work” aim is to train the “Latvian Rural Advisory and Training Centre" branches “Forest Advisory Services Centre" employees - acquiring new knowledge, skills and training methods, later using this knowledge, prepare a new training for Latvian forest owners, forest workers and forest managers . The training program and further such training programs introduction in Latvia - will provide additional knowledge extraction of forest owners, foresters and forest managers to comply with environmental, waterproof and cultural heritage preservation during the forest management work and timber resource extraction.The "Swedish Forest Agency " is chosen as project partner on the basis of earlier cooperation experience and because they are one of institutions that provide this training program for forest sector workers organized for several years now and certify forest managers and forest workers to ensure that forest management with PEFC and FSC certification requirements.It is planned to train ten “Latvian Rural Advisory and Training Centre" branches “Forest Advisory Services Centre" employees – forest professionals and adult educators, who after the training course in Sweden will participate in training program preparation and adaption for Latvia situation, as well as implement the training program in Latvia by providing to learn it for forest owners, forest workers and forest managers in Latvian country regions. The “Swedish Forest Agency” offers a four - day courses - theoretical and practical training - after successful aptitude tests, participants will get the certification. As the result of the project - will be created a new training program in Latvia – “Environmental, waterproof and cultural heritage preservation during the forest work”, the aim of the program will be to educate forest owners, forest workers and forest managers in considerate forest management.
