Tingvallagymnasiet in Karlstad, Sweden is a Service College which offers students educational programmes in Commerce and Administration . We want to give our students a qualified education that prepares them well for their work life and their citizenship. It is important to provide students with very good service skills. Therefore, we strive to build international contacts so that as many students as possible get to meet people and companies in other countries. Increased internationalisation of school activities is part of Tingvallagymnasiets strategic plan. Offering students work based training in other countries is a crucial step in this work. This project is a continued collaboration with Max-Eyth -Schule , Alsfeld, Germany. Both schools have extensive experience of international projects. The purpose of this project is to increase the internationalization when it comes to the activities of our schools and to give more students the opportunity to develop their service skills in an international environment. This will lead to a higher achievement of the targets set in the courses included in the students' education for the individual student. The project aim is to send six students to Alsfeld , Germany in order to take part in a two week internship. The project is implemented together with teachers and students of a similar vocational education program at the Max- Eyth -Schule , Alsfeld . The Swedish students are practicing along with host students at the company where the host students do their internship . The Swedish students stay with their host student. In addition to internships , students get insight into the German business life, culture and tradition. The project is evaluated by students , companies and educators. The results of the project are diseminated through the students' documentation and presentations at open school events and through presentations of their experience for other school students during school hours. The expected outcomes for students: - Increased subject matter knowledge . - Increased capacity and knowledge in meeting other people from other cultures and traditions. - Greater understanding of other cultures and traditions. - Strong professional identity - Personal development with greater self-knowledge and self-confidence. - Increased number of contacts for the future. - Greater knowledge of working life conditions in Europe and an experience of the opportunities in the European labor markets . - A safer and freer use of English in private as well as professional context . - Increased employability also in the European labor market . The expected outcomes for teachers: - Reflection on our own practice and working methods. - Ability to reflect their own profession in a European perspective. - Expanded network within the school and the business community both nationally and internationally . - Personality development . - Language training . - Opportunity for increased collaboration with colleagues. Expected results for the school : - An international school environment where teachers and staff are continuously trained in the meeting of different cultures and traditions. - A reflection on practices and methods among staff. - An attractive school which is competitive with other schools. - Motivated students and teachers. - Increased interest in internationalization among students and staff. Expected results for the region / Karlstad / Värmland - Positive development of the tourism industry in the form of more visitors. - Marketing of our region in different contexts. - Region will become more attractive to workers from outside the region.
