Ansprüche und Praxis der Förderung an finnischen Schulen
Start date: Jun 1, 2015, End date: May 31, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

The programme entitled "Ansprüche und Praxis der Förderung an finnischen Schulen" was the result of the strategic planning of the 1st Primary School of Filiates, which engaged all its educational staff. Our school teaching team, possessing a dynamic profile and strong aspirations for lifelong learning opportunities, held several meetings in order to trace the problems and identify them in a positive way, focusing mainly on the ways that they could be best resolved. We strongly believe that the following areas were improved: • Relations and communication among the members of the school community (teachers-parents, teachers-teachers, headteacher-teaching staff). • Teaching methods were enriched and the opening of our school towards co-operations within and out of our school community strengthened the feeling of interest and motivation. As a result, the school climate was highly improved. We estimate that our passive profile was enhanced 1) through a multi-dimensional plan which included visits to schools widely known for their technical know-how in the field of our interest and 2) through participation in training courses. During our visits to the hosting schools, we had the unique opportunity to exchange knowledge and experiences and our active participation in the school life (lessons, presentations of our historic and cultural heritage, planning of future partnerships) proved to be extremely beneficial. Our experiences and gained knowledge (new teaching methods, modern tools, methods of improving the school climate, new techniques of conflict and negative behaviour management, ways of raising the quality of the school’s aesthetic design) were all published on an open educational platform (OEP) for everyone to access and use. In this way, together with our cooperation with other European schools, we managed to disseminate the outcomes in the best possible way and added a European dimension to our school. We also succeeded in facing the problems and weaknesses and made our project viable. As a result, our school is being transformed into a model of a learning community which is continually evolving and developing in order to live up to the requirements and needs of our complex society.
