"Alveare" was a project that involved 3 EVS volunteers from three different European countries (Germany, Spain and Belgium), who have worked together for 10 months in the activities of the multiethnic nursery "Alveare", the MEC Media Education Center and downtown intercultural "Incontri" (which included various activities with youth and women of the local environment for the promotion of intercultural and integration: tea rooms, youth space, meeting with communities, sports laboratory, documentation center, etc.) All activities carried out by volunteers through the EVS were a "service learning" which operated in favor of the local community and encouraged the learning of new knowledge, new skills and languages ​​for volunteers. Volunteers, therefore, have contributed to the development of the local community of Agrigento and the promotion of the inclusion of children of migrants and their families in addition to acquiring skills to improve their capabilities and skills and their job prospects. The activities were focused on the issues of social inclusion, intercultural and integration, on the development of the local community, creativity and innovation, on the personal and professional development of volunteers, to stimulate and promote active citizenship and European achieving the objectives of Erasmus + for this specific action. The activities allowed the volunteers to work with different beneficiaries of services provided by the Mondoaltro Foundation, operating instrument of Caritas Agrigento - children, women, families, groups of immigrants - through the assistance and support that they have given to the staff: - In educational planning and implementation of activities; - In the development of initiatives and activities that promoted intercultural dialogue, promotion of the Erasmus + peers and develop a personal and professional project. Learning methods were not formal and included: the "learning by doing", "peer to peer education", the collaborative and cooperative learning, creative thinking, team building. Young people have helped to raise awareness of the opportunities of the program through the telling of their experience in various organizations in the area (schools, parish youth groups, during meetings held by the Mondoaltro Foundation, during the event "Meet Forum"), through a blog and a promotional video.
