"AltriLuoghi: andiamo oltre gli ostacoli" - "Otherplaces: let's go over the obstacles"
Start date: Feb 2, 2015, End date: Nov 2, 2015 PROJECT  FINISHED

"AltriLuoghi: andiamo oltre gli ostacoli": is the second phase of a program of youth exchanges, named ALTRILUOGHI programme, which is aimed at improve the youth active participation opportunities providing them with the tools to be able to analyze their discomforts and promote strategies and solutions to reach their goals. ALTRILUOGHI promotes the youth active participation and empowerment in view of a more inclusive European society, in which young people are seen as proactive stakeholders able to identify needs and solutions. "AltriLuoghi: diamo inizio ai lavori”: was the first step of the program ALTRILUOGHI, it involved 33 Italians, Spanish and Portuguese young people in the conduct of the needs of young people on the issues: work-future- social inclusion and active citizenship through participatory techniques from the theater of the oppressed methodology. One of the results of this first phase was precisely the problem tree defined by the youth. In this second exchange, "AltriLuoghi: Andiamo Oltre Gli Ostacoli" 24 young people from Italy, Spain and France worked together in defining the strategies to overcome the obstacles defined in the tree problems. We used a non-formal methodologies of the theatre of oppressed, in particular the techniques of Forum Theatre. The project as all the program Altriluoghi, addresses the youth needs and discomforts in relation to the themes: work-future-social inclusion and active citizenship. The current European economic crisis, its impact on the labor market, such as the high level of unemployment among young people has produced a loss of confidence in what the future has to offer for them. The common solution, that young people put into practice, is to migrate wherever there is the possibility, the opportunity to realize their dreams (according to ISTAT, the number of graduates who leave Italy has tripled in the last decade - ISTAT-2014- "international migration and internal population"). The same situation is confirmed at the European level by the Eurobarometro research on youth and employment "More than half of young Europeans Feel That in their country young people have Been marginalized and excluded from economic and social life by the crisis (57%)" This phenomena has a double effect. The first is the loss of human capital for the communities that young people decide to leave, the second is the loss of meaning and traditions of their city, which are increasingly perceived as non-places. The protest against the austerity measures implemented by most European governments, have shown us that both adults and young people want to take part in the decision-making process, they want to be involved, they want to actively participate in the definition of the society of the future. For that reason PASSI Soc.Coop with Generazioni in movimento, (informal group), the local Administration of Ravenna and the international partners has promoted a youth exchange program that has involved with "AltriLuoghi: diamo inizio ai lavori” the young people in the definition of the youth need analysis, and involved with "AltriLuoghi: Andiamo Oltre Gli Ostacoli" the young people in the definition of objectives and strategies to achieve their goal and objectives. In that way the ALTRILUOGHI programme is realized that a real process of youth-participatory planning. In "AltriLuoghi: Andiamo Oltre Gli Ostacoli" thanks to the TDO approach and techniques of Forum Theatre, the 24 participants coming from Italy, Spain and France were able to define their own solutions and strategies to overcome the barriers identified. In this way they found out the real opportunities that this structural crisis is concealing. The project aimed at increasing the participation opportunities for the participants providing them with the tools to: • improve the youth self-confidence in the future promoting new participation opportunities at European level. • Encouraging an European dimension of youth mobility, encouraging, their dynamism and active participation as citizenship. • Encourage their creativity, confidence and self-esteem by making them aware of their capabilities and possibilities in a broader context.
